AI video generator

AI video generation that doesn't make you wait around

A fast video comes back in your composer in seconds, same as generating an image. A slower one — longer, more complex — keeps generating in the background while you keep working, and Postclay notifies you the moment it lands in your media library. Either way, your monthly quota is only ever spent on a video you actually receive.

How it works

  1. In the composer's media section, click "Generate with AI" and select Video.
  2. Describe the video and choose the format — horizontal (16:9) for a feed post, or vertical (9:16) for Stories and Reels.
  3. A fast generation returns directly in the composer, ready to select. A slower one hands off to the background — close the modal and keep working.
  4. For a background generation, you get an in-app notification the moment it's ready, and it's already sitting in your media library.

What's actually different here

  • Background generation, not a spinner you have to wait out

A video that takes longer than a quick fast-path check doesn't block your composer — it keeps generating in the background while you write your next post.

  • Notified the moment it's ready

Completion (or a failure) shows up as an in-app notification, with the finished video already in your media library — no need to keep the tab open or check back manually.

  • Quota held, not lost, while it generates

A video still generating in the background shows as a held credit in your quota display — visible, not silently missing — and is only actually spent once the video is delivered.

  • Never charged for a failure

If a generation fails or times out for any reason, your monthly allowance is refunded automatically. You're only ever charged for a video you actually got.

  • Horizontal or vertical, matched to where you're posting

Generate in 16:9 for a standard feed post or 9:16 for Stories and Reels — pick the format for where the video is actually going.

  • Straight into your media library

Every generated video is saved to your media library the moment it's ready, reusable on a future post without generating it again.

Example prompts

"a slow pan across a busy souq at golden hour, warm tones", format: vertical
Generates a Stories/Reels-format clip suited to a cultural or travel-brand post — this kind of atmospheric scene is exactly the sort of generation that may run long enough to hand off to the background.
"a clean product spin on a white background, studio lighting", format: horizontal
Generates a short, simple product-showcase clip for a feed post — typically fast enough to return directly in the composer.
"a bold animated text reveal announcing a sale, red and black", format: vertical
Generates an announcement-style clip formatted for Stories, ready to pair with a caption for a limited-time promotion.

Common questions

What happens if my video takes a while to generate?
If it doesn't finish within the fast, synchronous window, Postclay hands it off to a background job — you can close the generator and keep working. You get notified the moment it's actually ready.
Am I charged for a video that's still generating?
Your quota shows it as held while it's in progress — visible, not hidden — but the charge only becomes final once the video is delivered. A failure or timeout releases the hold entirely.
What formats does video generation support?
Horizontal (16:9), suited to a standard feed post, and vertical (9:16), suited to Stories and Reels.
Is AI video generation included in every plan?
It's available on paid plans, with its own monthly generation allowance separate from image and caption generation — video generation costs more per unit given the underlying compute, so its allowance is smaller than the image allowance on the same plan.
