A lot of communities and creators run their primary hub on a Discord server — Postclay schedules announcement-style posts to a Discord channel the same way it schedules a post to any other platform, without a bot to manage or a Discord app to build.
Setup steps
- In your server, open the target channel's settings → Integrations → Webhooks → New Webhook.
- Copy the Webhook URL.
- Paste it into Postclay — treat it like a password, since anyone with the URL can post to that channel.
Limits & requirements
Discord's webhook message limit is 2,000 characters (the same limit as a regular user message; the extended Nitro limit isn't available to webhooks). Up to 10 file attachments per message, images up to roughly 8MB depending on the server's boost level.
What Postclay does differently for Discord
Discord is the simplest BYO connection Postclay offers — no bot, no app review, no scopes to pick. A single webhook URL is the entire credential, generated inside the channel's own settings, which is also why Postclay treats that URL with the same care as a password: anyone who has it can post to the channel.
AI generation, tuned for Discord
An AI-generated image works well as the visual for a Discord announcement — generate one with Postclay's AI media tools and attach it to the same scheduled post going out to the channel via webhook, without leaving the composer.
Troubleshooting
- My scheduled post never appeared in Discord.
- Webhooks can be deleted or regenerated from the channel side without Postclay knowing — open Integrations → Webhooks in the channel and confirm the webhook Postclay is using still exists.
- I want the same content in two channels.
- A webhook only ever posts to the channel it was created in — create a second webhook in the other channel and connect it as a second Postclay account.
- Images aren't showing up in the message.
- Very large images can silently fail depending on the server's boost tier — resize to a reasonable web size (well under 8MB) before attaching.
Common questions
- Can one webhook post to multiple channels?
- No — a webhook is tied to the channel it was created in. Create a separate webhook for each channel you want to post to.
- Does the webhook expose my Discord username or account?
- No — a webhook posts under its own name and avatar (customizable in the same Integrations screen), with no link back to whichever Discord account created it.
- Can Postclay reply to messages or manage the server?
- No — a webhook can only post new messages to its one channel. It has no permission to read messages, manage the server, or interact with members.
- Can I edit a post after it's been sent to Discord through Postclay?
- Not currently — once a scheduled post publishes to Discord via the webhook, editing or deleting it needs to happen directly in Discord.
