Hashnode is a common home for a personal or team technical blog with its own custom domain — Postclay schedules long-form posts there the same way it schedules a short caption to X, on the same calendar.
Setup steps
- In Hashnode, go to Account Settings → Developer → Generate New Token, and copy it.
- Open your publication's dashboard — the URL looks like hashnode.com/<publicationId>/dashboard — and copy that ID.
- In Postclay, paste both the token and the publication ID.
Limits & requirements
Hashnode has no practical length limit — Postclay allows up to 100,000 characters. Up to 10 images can be attached, each up to 25MB; Hashnode's API doesn't currently accept native video uploads through Postclay.
What Postclay does differently for Hashnode
Hashnode requires both a personal access token AND a publication ID to know exactly where a post should land — most integrations only ask for the token and guess the publication. Postclay asks for both up front so a post never lands in the wrong publication, or fails silently because it couldn't be identified.
AI generation, tuned for Hashnode
Long-form AI drafting fits Hashnode's practical no-limit body naturally — generate a full draft with Postclay's AI and it publishes as written, without the aggressive trimming a 280-character platform would force on the same generated text.
Troubleshooting
- Postclay says it can't identify a publication.
- The publication ID field is technically optional in the form but required in practice — without it, Postclay can't reliably tell which of your publications to post to. Copy it from your dashboard URL (hashnode.com/<publicationId>/dashboard).
- My personal access token stopped working.
- Tokens can be revoked from Account Settings → Developer at any time, including by you accidentally regenerating one — generate a fresh token and reconnect.
- Images aren't attaching to the post.
- Hashnode accepts images up to 25MB each — a larger file will fail silently on Hashnode's side; resize the image and try again.
Common questions
- The publication ID field says optional — do I need it?
- Enter it anyway. Without it, Postclay can't reliably identify which of your publications to post to.
- Can I use a personal blog instead of a team publication?
- Yes — a personal Hashnode blog is itself a publication with its own ID; use that ID the same way you would a team publication's.
- Can I schedule to more than one Hashnode publication?
- Yes — connect each publication separately with its own publication ID; the personal access token can be reused across connections.
- Can I schedule to my Hashnode publication's custom domain?
- Yes — the custom domain is a setting on Hashnode's side tied to your publication ID; Postclay just needs the publication ID, and Hashnode handles which domain the post appears on.
