Connect Medium to Postclay

Medium deprecated its public API and no longer issues new integration tokens. This only works if your account still has a legacy token from before the change.

Medium still carries meaningful reach for long-form writing and curated publications, particularly for essays and thought-leadership content — for the accounts that can still connect (see the limits below), Postclay schedules to it like any other platform.

Setup steps

  1. In Medium, check Settings → Security and apps → Integration tokens — if you have an existing token there, copy it.
  2. Paste it into Postclay. If you don't see this option, Medium's API is not available for your account.

Limits & requirements

Medium deprecated its public API and stopped issuing new integration tokens — this connection only works for accounts that still hold a legacy token from before the deprecation. If your account never had one, this option isn't available to you, and no setting in Postclay can restore it. For accounts that do have a token, there's no meaningful length cap and up to 10 images per post; Medium's API doesn't accept video.

What Postclay does differently for Medium

Postclay is upfront that this is a legacy-only connection rather than hiding the limitation — the connect page and the composer both flag a Medium account as legacy so it's never a surprise when Medium is the one platform that can't be freshly connected today.

AI generation, tuned for Medium

For the legacy-token accounts that can still connect, Postclay's AI drafting tools apply to a Medium post exactly like any other platform — generate or rewrite the essay text, then schedule it alongside whatever else is going out that day.

Troubleshooting

I don't see an integration token anywhere in Settings.
Medium stopped issuing new tokens, so a newer account almost certainly never had one. This isn't a setup mistake — Medium's API access for new accounts and new tokens is simply no longer available.
My token used to work but stopped.
Medium can revoke legacy tokens without notice as they wind the deprecated API down further — if a previously-working token stops working, there's currently no way to generate a replacement.
Is there any other way to publish to Medium from Postclay?
Not currently. If Medium reopens API access in the future, Postclay's Medium connection will support it the same way — this page will be updated.

Common questions

I don't have an integration token — can I still connect?
Not currently. Medium stopped issuing new tokens; this option only works for accounts that already had one.
Will Medium ever issue new integration tokens again?
There's no indication Medium plans to reopen its public API — this has stayed unavailable for new accounts for a long time, and Postclay has no way to predict or influence Medium's own roadmap.
Should I still bother connecting Medium?
Only if you already have a legacy integration token — check Settings → Security and apps → Integration tokens first. If nothing is there, connecting Medium isn't possible today regardless of Postclay's settings.
Can I schedule a post to a Medium publication, not just my own profile?
Not through Postclay's current Medium connection — posts publish to your own profile. Cross-posting to a publication needs to be done manually on Medium's side.
